In my work today I wish
to analyze several videos about informatics active learning, which were create
by students for the „Active learning of Informatics“.
First I would like to take video of Mari-Liis Viet and her team. I want to explain why I take it
first. It is because this informatics lesson in unusual then others. We all
accustomed that informatics lesson are in the special classroom with computers
and where each has his own place with a needed instruments and most of time
pupils work individually. But everything was differently at such lesson:
students divided on three groups and worked together, it was usual classroom
where they worked, there are no computers except the student’s laptop. It is
very important and interesting, because we could see that some part of
informatics without computers. It shows how flexible and multipurpose could be
such lessons and it is possible to use different ways and methods to learning
informatics, because informatics is not mandatory make somewhat using only
computers. I would be put maximum points for such lesson.
Second video which I want to analyze is video of Triinu
Pääsik and her team. We can see the informatics lesson in usual computer
classroom. Lesson is organized as team work: 3 teams, 3 object, 3 tasks. Lesson
is going very activity, teacher and pupils are every time ongoing, pupils
discussing about theme, teacher is looking after them and answering for their
questions. For learning pupils use very interesting Internet recourse named
Padlet which allow them to work used common online desk and they can see what
other team do, but because every team has their personal task, nobody could
make copy from another team. I think it is very productive and interesting
lesson especially for pupils. But one thing that is looked strange for me – the
lessons theme. Technology is too wide area and it means rules, methods,
processes and actions for creating something for all areas in our life (for
example cooking and teaching are also technology). Internet and Bluetooth are a
technology, but mobile phone and computer are technics. Sorry may be it is I am
something misunderstood – I am non-professional in teaching as you, but I think
that such theme is more suitable for gymnasium
(10-12 class), where could be more detail explained about it. It is only my
meaning.
Of cause lesson with such structure is more useful than just
teachers explanation and that is why I would put for this maximum points.
Third video which I want to analyze is video of Katrin
Shults and her team. In this video we can see how informatics is used to study
other subjects like Estonian in the small country school. I like it very much
because we can see could be very productive use informatics lessons or just
computer class to help pupils learn another subjects. There are not many pupils
and they make something like a comics in Estonian. It is a primary class and that is why it is very
usefull for them make something visual. From that they can study using their
creative thinking. Such lessons could be very necessary in situation where
there are little money in school budget to organize separately informatics
lessons. But for such method, school need teachers, who can use and teach using
computers at an appropriate level.
In association with everything told, for
such video I would put maximum points.
